In my translation of the Bible, 1 Corinthians 4:20 reads: “For the kingdom of God depends not on talk but on power.”

Go back and read that word again: depends. The kingdom of God depends on power. To depend means to be controlled or determined by, to rely on. It means to hinge on, to be decided by. God’s kingdom rests on power.

You know what we don’t have, apart from God? Power. All we have apart from God are words. Talk. Empty chatter. We can talk all we want about ministries and gifts and strength, but the kingdom will never grow without the power of God.

No Match: Taking Hold of His Healing

Hey, long time no see! Today I want to let you guys know what’s really been on my heart lately.

I’ve been a little hesitant to write this post, sort of because of the personal nature of it, and also because I wasn’t sure it would be relevant to anyone else. But I just started thinking about it again and I think it’s absolutely something every believer needs to be reminded of periodically.
